The North West Business Network would like to invite you to a free presentation that will help your business understand the public sector tender process and how to prepare to tender for contracts from London 2012 and other public sector organisations.

The presentation will be useful for any business interested in competing for London 2012 and other public sector contracts. It is open to all interested businesses and will provide a refresher, building on the previous workshops held at Preston North End, Haydock Park and Warrington Wolves Stadium.

Many businesses are aware of the commercial opportunities available in the public sector but often are not well briefed in understanding this sector’s procurement processes and the implications of completing the tender documentation. This presentation will discuss the tender process and will offer valuable advice on how to prepare your business for public sector tendering.

Key Speaker: Stephen Ashcroft, Brian Farrington Ltd

The FAQ presentation will be led by Stephen Ashcroft, BEng, MSc, MCIPS. Stephen has worked as a Consultant for 15 years with Brian Farrington Ltd and specialises in the area of public sector procurement.

His experience of advising public sector ‘buyers’ on procurement has ideally placed him to explain their organisational and personal ‘drivers’. He has, over the past 5 years provided advice and guidance, via a government funded programme, to small businesses tendering for public sector contracts. The Results? Over £28m worth of work awarded to the small businesses! (from as little as one-off jobs for £2,000 up to a 3-year partnership agreement of £8.5m). The presentation will be practical, about ‘real life’ and expose the warts and all of tendering. Stephen is a visiting lecturer at Manchester University on their Engineering Doctorate programme and an Associate of the National School of Government. He is co-author of the CIPS text Contracting for the Public Sector, published November 2007.

We will also be joined by Anne Thompson, Sector Leader – Sport, Northwest Regional Development Agency and Russell McGrath, Growth Companies Manager, Business Link Northwest.

This no-nonsense presentation with explain the approach, type and level of detail required in public sector procurement including the content of tender documents.
