Update on London 2012 business opportunities
on Tuesday 23 March 2010
at Lancashire County Cricket Club,
Old Trafford, Talbot Road,
Manchester M16 0PX
This event is aimed at all private sector businesses in the Greater Manchester area and will be an update on the progress of contracting opportunities for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
With under 3 years to go, construction work on the Olympic Park is well underway and procurement is now shifting into the supply chain and fitting out of the Olympic venues. More than 1,000 UK businesses have won contracts worth over £5 billion which includes 93 Northwest businesses winning work from 124 London 2012 contracts. It is anticipated that the procurement of goods and services from both supply chains and from LOCOG (The London Organising Committee) will increase in early 2010. London 2012 expects to have around 7,000 direct contracts which, together with it’s suppliers, will form supply chains of around 75,000 opportunities in sectors ranging from construction, engineering and manufacturing to creative, merchandising and retail.
